John McLeod Pugmire started Pugmire Lincoln Mercury in 1960 in downtown Atlanta at the corner of North Avenue and West Peachtree Street. The son of an English missionary with the Salvation Army, he attended Boys High in Atlanta and fought in World War II with the Sixth Division of the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific. His work ethic, diligence and passion for doing ethical business and achieving uncommonly high customer satisfaction are the underlying platform by which our family business is rooted. Those same strong, family values continue to drive our business philosophy today.
Almost 50 years later, now in our third generation of family oversight, we represent Lincoln Mercury, Isuzu and Suzuki in two different locations in North Atlanta, both in Cobb County. Our mother-ship store, Pugmire Lincoln Mercury in Marietta, has been in its same location on Cobb Parkway in Marietta since 1973, after being moved from its original site in downtown Atlanta. Our Isuzu service facility is now at the same location on Cobb Parkway as the Lincoln Mercury store. In October of 2009, we sold our Pugmire Lincoln Mercury at Town Center location after nine years of ownership in order to consolidate our Lincoln Mercury operations into one central Cobb County location. Now we're right back where we started, at 1865 Cobb Parkway in Marietta. Our Suzuki store is located right next door to Lincoln Mercury at the corner of Terrell Mill Road and Cobb Parkway in Marietta. This store was acquired in 2005. Austin Pugmire, the third generation, is the general manager of the operation today. Operating upon the same customer service values and ethics instilled by his father and grandfather, he is committed to insuring a future of growth in the "Pugmire Way." The Pugmire brand has come to define itself to many in Atlanta and North Georgia and its meaning is best summed up in one simple statement: "It's a Pugmire." "It's a Pugmire" means that value and tradition are still alive and continue to be something worth embracing. "It's a Pugmire" means "of course it is, what else did you expect?" Welcome. We hope that you enjoy your experience here. "It's a Pugmire!" |
